Graalympics

From Graal Bible

The Graalympics is an event where the best of the best Graal players from each server and fight for the title of the best in the game in global administrator-sactioned matches. The events are typically poorly run and disorganized. In fact, the Winter Graalympics 2004 was cancelled entirely due to lack of planning and progress.

Originally, the matches were hosted on the #gscript server which was temporarily renamed to Graalympus for the duration of the event and run by Tyhm. However, only one year after the first in 2004, Tyhm stepped down and abandoned the job and project. It was more or less resurrected by multiple parties, the most prominent of them being Malinko from gscript and LogicBot from Doomsday. In 2005, Dysangelist of Delteria hosted a Global Spar Tournament in lieu of the Graalympics, which was not held that summer.

It was initially planned for there to be multiple events, such as a tug of war, scripting competition, levels competition, and trivia. Lack of interest and administrative work ultimately led the event to degenerate into a giant sparring tournament where the best from each server competed.

2003 Graalympics

The 2003 Graalympics were hosted on the server Graalympus and run by Tyhm. The players included:

  • Deophite-_- of Classic
  • NeoJenova of Unholy Nation
  • Ferrari of Era
  • SkyBlazer of N-Pulse
  • Kurrupted of Bravo Online
  • Crono of Valikorlia
  • Tortoise of Delteria
  • ShadowLust of Babylon
  • Tsukasa of Doomsday
  • Axion of Shaded Legend
  • More?

NeoJenova was the Gold Medalist, ShadowLust was the Silver Medalist, and Tsukasa was the Bronze Medalist.

2004 Graalympics

The 2004 Graalympics was hosted on LogicBot's playerworld which had it's "gold/vip only" restrictions removed for the matches. The 2004 Graalympics is not considered truly official because of its poor management, ambiguous signup rules, and lack of global support. Despite all of that, the lineup of sparrers was generally the best the game had to offer and all of the matches were impressive. Ironically enough, the administrative teams behind the matches were more efficient and the server was MUCH less laggy.

The participants included:

  • Brett of Classic
  • Kurse of Unholy Nation
  • Ferrari of Era
  • Tortoise of Delteria
  • Thallen of Babylon
  • LogicBot of Doomsday
  • Sephiroth of ProjectR
  • More?

Tortoise was the Gold Medalist, Kurse was the Silver Medalist, and Brett was the Bronze Medalist.

2005 Graalympics

The 2005 Graalympics was never hosted. Instead, an exclusive global spar tournament was hosted on Delteria. It was run by Suoirafen, Dysangelist, Kirby, Raiden, and Alex Stravier. Because the server was genuinely public, the turnout was incredible and all of the featured sparrers were tough competitors. The final tie-breaker match between Tortoise and Neojenova was caught on fraps by Sheepiroth.

The participants included:

  • QuickBot of Shaded Legend
  • Tortoise of Delteria
  • NeoJenova of Unholy Nation
  • Dable of Babylon
  • Thallen of N-Pulse
  • Evenglare of Atlantis
  • ??? of Maloria
  • Cyclone of Classic
  • Miramos of Valikorlia
  • Chwal of Zodiac

NeoJenova was the Gold Medalist, Tortoise was the Silver Medalist, and Miramos was the Bronze Medalist. NeoJenova received a statue on Delteria which will remain there for a year.
